Ellie Burnham Word is the Vice President of Mockbee Ellis, P.A.. She first began practicing law in 2001 as an associate at Mockbee Hall & Drake, P.A., where she specialized in construction litigation. Ellie eventually began her own practice in her hometown of Okolona. She joined the Jackson office of Krebs, Farley & Pelleteri, PLLC in September, 2005 and was a partner with the firm from 2008 to 2014. At Krebs, Farley & Pelleteri, Ellie concentrated her practice in surety and fidelity matters, including the handling of large construction default cases. 

Ellie joined the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office as a Special Assistant Attorney General in December 2014 and was assigned to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the State Board of Architecture.  In her time with the Attorney General’s Office, Ellie represented various divisions of MDOT, including the Contract Administration, Construction and Roadway Design Divisions, and provided daily advice and guidance to several of MDOT’s geographical districts. She also regularly presented at MDOT’s annual Construction and Maintenance Conferences.   As counsel for the State Board of Architecture, Ellie provided general advice to the Executive Director and handled all disciplinary matters of licensed individuals.

Ellie is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Jackson. While an active member, she served in multiple leadership roles, including two years of service on the Board of Directors.  She is active in her church (Brandon Presbyterian Church), where she serves on the Nursery Committee and chairs the Missions, Outreach and Evangelism Committee.  Ellie also serves as the President of the Northwest Rankin High School Parent-Teacher Organization and is the Registrar and U14 and Up Commissioner for NWRAA Soccer Association.  Ellie and her husband, Scott, have four children.
